Well, I gotta say, there's really no better way to start a new year than working on a project you are passionate about.
Last summer, I was asked to read a role in the first public reading of a new play called "Dirty". The play (now called The Madres) has been developing beautifully and we were invited by San Diego Rep to present a reading this past week. The reading was a hit!
The playwright took this shot of me and Catalina Maynard (great actress) as we prepared before the audience arrived. I kinda love it!
It was so so wonderful to have the play so well recieved. This is, of course, just the beginning of the journey for the piece. I very much hope to stay a part of it as I love the play so much.
One of the best parts of the process, though, was our great director (Herbert Siguenza) and his contribution to helping Stephanie Allison Walker (playwright) to make some edits and tweaks that REALLY strengthened the script. Very excited about this draft.
If you'd like to learn more about the play, you can visit the writer's website and you can read it on the New Play Exchange. Here's the description from the San Diego Rep reading. Can't wait to one day get this on its feet.
Not a bad start to a new year! Be well! - Arianna
